Welcome to the 6th edition of the Sewfinity newsletter, written by me, Angela Bowman. A special hello to those who replied to my previous email about the loss of my mother. I was astonished by all the messages I received, and I feel so lucky to have such a supportive community. Thanks so much for your kind words - it means so much to me ❤️

Good Afternoon!
Well it's already mid-March. How did that even happen?!
Last month I had our first-ever booth at an event. It was at QuiltCon, the premier modern quilt exhibition in the world. It was a virtual-only event, and in my “booth” I made a video where I talk about Kona Cotton, our curated Kona bundles, and our fabric swatch magnet kit. Hoo boy, wasn’t that video interesting to make. Lotsssss of outtakes that no one will ever see!
I was unsure how successful the booth would be, since all-virtual is a bit of a gamble, but I was very surprised to see all the sales I received. I promptly sold out of a few of our bundles, so I worked furiously fast to get things restocked. I've been selling Kona color cards like crazy and they completely sold out at QuiltCon. Modern quilters sure love their fabric swatch cards!! I've ordered lots more from Robert Kaufman, and they should arrive in the next few weeks.
I had 3 personal quilts in QuiltCon, and they all use Kona exclusively. A couple are portraits, and one is the gradient grid shown above. I'd love you to take a look.
🧵 THINGS WORTH KNOWING IN THE WORLD OF SEWING 🧵
Gradient Grid MBC
This, my friends, is my favorite Gradient Grid quilt I’ve made. And it displayed at QuiltCon!
I followed our pattern to make a custom variation: combine 4 mini sizes to make a small throw. I made 2 identical quilt tops, then made 2 reflected versions, rotated their placement, and pieced it together like a ginormous 4-patch. The quilting is by Jess of Threaded Quilting Studio. To learn more and to get the free pattern, see our post: Gradient Grid Quilt - MBC Variation.
Gradient MBC Bundle
This is the bundle that makes the Gradient Grid quilt: MBC, which stands for magenta, blue, and cyan. It’s my personal fave of the 3 colorways. It’s a stack of fat quarters containing 36 colors of Kona Cotton that blends 3 colors to white.
This is a whopper of a bundle to put together, guys, since it has so many fabrics. In my most recent round of bundle-making frenzy, I enlisted the help of my young-adult son: I cut and folded, and he attached sticker labels to each piece and stacked them into bundles. I was so surprised by how efficient he was. I had a hard time keeping up with him, and I thought I was pretty quick!
So when you get your own Gradient MBC bundle, just know that Chandler helped his Mom out :-)
QuiltCon 2021 Winners
Yes, QuiltCon is over, but you can still see the eye candy that are the winners of the QuiltCon 2021 Quilt Show. It’s a fantastic way to be inspired to use solid fabrics. Some of my favorites: Blooming by Émilie Trahan, Shark Bite by Debra Milkovich, Finger Paints by Laura Loewen, and Fanfold by Caroline Hadley.
Thanks so much for reading. Stay creative. Sewing helps.
Angela

Welcome to the 36th edition of the Sewfinity newsletter, written by me, Angela Bowman. Hi from Angela Meridian Idaho, Sunday July 6, 2025 Good afternoon! Do you know how to hand quilt? I've been wanting to learn for quite some time - I just love the idea of a completely bespoke quilt made by hand. I'm learning with big stitch hand quilting - nice and easy big stitches with chunky thread. I'm starting with simple straight lines, and yeesh, that first line was really rough. Lots of uneven...
Welcome to the 35th edition of the Sewfinity newsletter, written by me, Angela Bowman. Hi from Angela Meridian Idaho, Sunday June 1, 2025 Good afternoon! It's the first day of June, what a lovely day. It's 74 degrees with a slight breeze. Perfect. The bees are buzzing on my lavender plants, the birds are singing, and I'm enjoying the fleeting perfect couple weeks' worth of weather here in southern Idaho before it gets hot. My husband jokes that I'm a weather Goldilocks, and that right now...
Welcome to the 34th edition of the Sewfinity newsletter, written by me, Angela Bowman. Hi from Angela Meridian Idaho, Sunday March 16, 2025 Good morning! I'm sure you've heard the news: JOANN is closing. It's unbelievable really - a craft store that's been around for over 80 years with more than 800 stores will be gone soon. I certainly remember going to our local JOANN store, it was the only place nearby to buy fabric. I loved wandering through the fabric aisles, checking out the sewing...
