Hi from Angela
Meridian Idaho, Sunday June 9, 2024
Good afternoon!
Our big news for you this month? We have an entire new quilting cotton solid line: 24/7 Solids by Hoffman Fabrics. I don't know if 24/7 Solids is new, or if Hoffman has been offering it for awhile, but either way, I feel ridiculous we haven't offered it before now. They are simply gorgeous and feel super smooth. When you look at the picture below, try not to gasp.
I also have news for you about Sashiko. I've been researching all about this traditional Japanese art of functional embroidery. My goal was to create a delightful kit for someone who wants to try sashiko. The past few months I ordered several books, lots of different thimbles and thread and supplies, and have curated the best ones into a toolkit. I was the pickiest about the book, and absolutely love the book I chose. There are 2 toolkit versions: Ultimate and Essentials. More on that below.
Since we've been adding so many new products to the website lately, it was time for a website refresh, and that's what we did: there's beautiful new product photography and better product filtering options so you can find what you need more easily.
Isn't it time for some fun summertime sewing? Make it sew! 😆

NEW: 24/7 Solids by Hoffman Fabrics
As soon as we received the entire collection of 24/7 Solids, I put this fabric rainbow together to take a pic and I gasped out loud. 😍
They're silky but not too silky, just the right thickness, and the colors... incredible. There are 71 colors of 100% combed cotton and we have them all.
Hoffman Fabrics is a long-standing family company based out of California. They're known for Hawaiian prints, their surfer style, and their very well-made fabric. You know Magnum PI's red Hawaiian shirt? Yeah, that's them.
So when I found out they have a line of solid quilting cotton, I was all-in. I was pleasantly surprised that it's combed cotton and it has a reasonable price point. Win win!
I can't wait to sew with these myself!

NEW: Sashiko Toolkits
This "Ultimate" toolkit is a true luxury set that includes the essentials, plus hand-picked scissors/ruler/mat that are optimal for sashiko. It's a perfect gift of every single thing needed to learn sashiko all zipped up in a sturdy storage pouch. The toolkit is a bit pricey, but it includes a lot, and it's all high value and high quality.
Every single item in this kit was meticulously chosen by me. The book is a standout item - it's one of the best sashiko books out there, and I think it's indeed the best book for learning. It has an incredible number of patterns!
Also notable are the perfectly sized ruler and mat, the heirloom-worthy Gingher scissors with leather sheath, sashiko needles brilliantly packaged in a delightful little vial with a cork top, colored threads as called for in the book, and more.
And did you know that there's a special thimble native to the sashiko technique? It's a coin-style ring thimble, and it's included as well.
There's a second toolkit option: a more basic "Essentials" toolkit for those wanting to try sashiko using the best specialized supplies, but want to use their own scissors/ruler/mat.

Sashiko Inspiration
What is Sashiko, anyway? There are lots of examples online. Here's an inspiring project I found on Instagram posted by Lecien Cosmo of Japan. So fun!

Every month (or so) Angela writes a letter about her thoughts, behind-the-scenes stuff at Sewfinity, and things worth knowing in the world of sewing. It's like getting a nice letter in the mail. Not too spammy. And not too often.
