Welcome to the 49th edition of the Sewfinity newsletter, written by me, Angela Bowman.

Hi from Angela

Good morning β˜€οΈ

You know that feeling when you're about to start a quick sewing project that you're excited for? It's a design you love, a simple sew, and something you can make in a pleasant afternoon sewing session. You're giddy to get started and happy that it'll be a quick win.

That's what I have going on right now with the Gift Bow quilt block. I'm going to make the red version and make it into a pillow. It'll be a perfect holiday touch for my sofa. I love this design so much and it's just spectacular with solids. So we made some kits for you! And stay tuned to see my finished pillow - I'll share it in my letter to you next month.

In other sewing news: Darla shares all about Frankenbatting, there's some fusible batting tape by Moda that you need to get, and we've added many more patterns by Toad & Sew.

Okay, now go sew something. I'll see you next month!

Gift Bow quilt block kits

We have 8 new kits for your holiday sewing pleasure: Gift Bow block kits!

The pattern is a 16-inch FPP block designed by Brooke of Lover of Life Designs. Isn't it stunning?!

One block makes a fantastic pillow cover: use our free pillow cover sewing pattern!

Of the 8 colors, which is your favorite: red, pink, purple, blue, aqua, green, silver, or gold?

Frankenbatting

Do you have a collection of batting scraps stacked in the corner of your sewing room?

The good news is that you can Mary Shelley the heck out of them and put all those batting scraps to use.

Frankenbatting is great to use in table runners, potholders, placemats, zipper pouches, wall hangings, small quilts and more.

You can give your batting new life in just three easy steps, whether your scraps are big-ish, but still too small for another quilt, or just a weird size or not actually useable on their own.

Check out Darla's tips and how-to’s:

Moda Batting Tape

After reading about Frankenbatting, you might want to try some of this tape: here you go!

Toad & Sew patterns

We just added 8 more quilt patterns by Toad & Sew for you, bringing our offering to 12. And there's a bonus for the top 8: they come with the cutest little sew-in labels!

The designer Taylor does such a good job with the pattern instructions and layout. The designs range from groovy retro to graphic to folksy, so there's something for everyone.

And psst, secret: we'll be making a bunch of quilt kits for these patterns from Ruby Star Solids: the upcoming brand new solid collection by Moda Fabrics. I am excited to share some absolutely stunning color combos with you - stay tuned for that! It'll likely be early December-ish, hopefully sooner.

Every month (or so) Angela writes a letter about her thoughts, behind-the-scenes stuff at Sewfinity, and things worth knowing in the world of sewing. It's like getting a nice letter in the mail. Not too spammy. And not too often.

Welcome to the 48th edition of the Sewfinity newsletter, written by me, Angela Bowman. Hi from Angela Meridian Idaho, Sunday October 4, 2026 Good afternoon β˜€οΈ I am happy to report that I have actually been sewing lately! Whenever I get back into it after a non-sewing spurt, I feel pretty dumb because it really is a key to my happiness. I finished my Copihue quilt that I've had in the works for a lonnnnng time, and I just love it. I also made a little lunch bag for SewPINK with some bright and...

Welcome to the 47th edition of the Sewfinity newsletter, written by me, Angela Bowman. Hi from Angela Meridian Idaho, Sunday September 6, 2026 Good morning β˜€οΈ Let me tell you.... we had some of our busiest days ever in the Sewfinity warehouse this week. Due in part to The Grimoire quilt pattern released by Eva of Gingerly Quilt Co. What's Grimoire? (confession: I had to look it up). It's a book of magic, or a spell book. Think potions, stories of dragons, enchanted roses. This quilt is...

Hi from Angela Meridian Idaho, Sunday August 23, 2026 Good morning, sunshine πŸ˜„ Here we are, August is almost done. The wildfire smoke is lifting, school is back in session, and my lavender plants are in their second bloom. The end of August always feels like a new beginning to me: nights get cooler, I turn another year older, and I start planning what I want to nestle in with for the fall and winter. I'm...
