NEW in the shop: quilt kit, 20 sashiko threads, Toad & Sew quilt patterns, Simplicity cross stitch

Welcome to the 28th edition of the Sewfinity newsletter, written by me, Angela Bowman. A special hello to our friends at the Iowa Quilt Museum exhibit: Threads of Life - Portraits and Pets Woven in Fabric. I have 2 quilts there: Chloe and CG Kiss. The exhibit is in historic Winterset (of Madison County) and closes 9/15/24. If you visit, I'd love it if you'd take photos and share with me.

Hi from Angela

Meridian Idaho, Sunday July 14, 2024

Good morning!

It's been too hot to be outside, so let's stay inside and sew, shall we?

It's been over 100 degrees here for many days now. When our mailman comes in the shop to pick up your packages, he is so hot and sweaty - I feel bad for him. But he's still cheery anyway, the sweet guy. I like to think we're his favorite stop 😃

Lots of fun new stuff to share with you this month: a Christmas quilt kit that I personally made, beautiful variegated sashiko thread, a new-to-us very talented quilt pattern designer, and a gorgeous vintage cross stitch kit for your sewing room. Plus fun stickers!

Get the scoop below. Stay cool, folks!

NEW: Knitted Star Quilt Kit

This is the Knitted Star quilt kit in Red Magentas, sized 93 inches square.

I made this quilt personally last year and thought I'd finally kit it up in case some of you want to make it, too. There's lots of fabric in this beaut: 18 fat quarters and 7 yards!

And if you start it now, there's plenty of time to get it made by Christmas 😆

NEW: Hidamari Sashiko Variegated Thread by Lecien Cosmo

Very excited to offer all 20 colors of Hidamari Sashiko variegated thread by Lecien Cosmo! These, plus the 20 solid colors, represent the entire Hidamari line, and we are so happy to have them all available for you.

There are 4 styles: gradation, multicolor, melange, and speckle. They are so pretty!

NEW: Toad & Sew Quilt Patterns

We're picky about the patterns we offer at Sewfinity. I like to scope out new designers and verify they know what's-what before deciding to offer their patterns to you.

Well, Taylor of Toad & Sew meets the bill, and I've hand-picked these 4 patterns to start with. Her designs are so fun!

So.... why the name Toad & Sew? Toad is the name of her pet dog. Awww sweet :)

Simplicity Vintage Cross Stitch Kit

Wouldn't this look nice in your sewing room?

The counted cross stitch Simplicity Vintage showcases authentic artwork and fashion from Simplicity Pattern Co. in commemoration of its 90th anniversary.

I love the vintage pattern cover design, the ombre thread effect on the dresses, the blue-dress model's eyes, and how the background is textured with simple tent stitches. I might have to make this myself!

Stickers!

We now have stickers! And they go perfect on our grid zip project bags (in 5 sizes).

These stickers were designed by Cotton + Joy and I love how they coordinate with the magnetic needle minders.

When I ordered them, I was pleasantly surprised at how big they are! And the colors are so bright and happy.

Every month (or so) Angela writes a letter about her thoughts, behind-the-scenes stuff at Sewfinity, and things worth knowing in the world of sewing. It's like getting a nice letter in the mail. Not too spammy. And not too often.

SewPINK 2024: zippered trays by Sewfinity

Welcome to the 31st edition of the Sewfinity newsletter, written by me, Angela Bowman. Hi from Angela Meridian Idaho, Sunday October 27, 2024 Good afternoon! Are you enjoying fall? I sure am. I'm sitting on my back patio as I write this, enjoying the sights and sounds of autumn in Idaho: bright blue sky, golden sunshine, puffy white clouds, orange and red and yellow and green leaves everywhere. The breeze is perfection, making the trees sway. Their leaves sound like gentle ocean waves. The...

Sewing Machine Covers in Colorblock

Welcome to the 30th edition of the Sewfinity newsletter, written by me, Angela Bowman. Hi from Angela Meridian Idaho, Sunday September 22, 2024 Good morning! I have been sewing so much the past few weeks! It is absolutely true that sewing increases our happiness, because I'm sure feeling the euphoria. I've sewn a bunch of zipper pouches, playing around with some pattern ideas I've had in my head for a long while. I'm planning to publish them as sewing patterns at some point, but in the...
